Damn! Who would have ever thought...
Just one of the reasons why Jay-Z is the most influential artist in Hip Hop right alongside Pac.

Where Ya'll At?

Prodigy - Jail House Call
QB! What's Good!
So P supposedly squashed things with Nas now (I can see eskay calling him Patchup P haha.) Which is definitely a good move and direction.
Mobb Deep and Nas collabos were some of the most potent music in Rap period, I don't care who tells me what. At the end of the day, this is all just music - why have petty competition rivals when there's more to be gained than lost.
Ohhh...and Jay-Z is still a "bitch ass nigga. " <---Prodigy's words, not mine.

Timbaland Stomped

Jay shoots Timbo down quicker than Cheney with a rifle.
“You know I love Timbaland, he is like a brother to me, but until the music is done it’s premature,” Jay said. “I’m a person that works off music. If Timbaland makes 10 great tracks then he produces the album, if Kanye West makes 10 great tracks then he produces the album; if he makes three, I’ll take three. I let the music dictate the direction.”
To say the least, I am still very intrigued about which way he'll venture with his RocNation debut album. Read the rest of the article here.

I'd Be Offended

What's up with Hov rapping about puttin' on Nas onto Def Jam, puttin' Fab back on top of the charts, puttin' Prodigy on that Summer Jam screen...?
If I was either of those dudes, I'd honestly feel insulted. Someone's bound to get upset.

Jay To Tie The Knot?

Before news of his signing broke out, I read earlier today in the NY Daily News that he and lover Beyonce have proceeded to get their marriage license in Westchester. How reliable that source is, one never knows, but then again it shouldn't come as no shock.
Seems like everything is falling in place for him, huh.

Just Call Me Forbes.com

According to the New York Times, Jay-Z has agreed to a tentative deal with Live Nation, which would score him a whopping $150 MILLION dollars for a span of ten years which would cover all costs as an executive, musician, and artist developer.
Mr. Presley ceases to amaze us by the fiscal quarter.“I’ve turned into the Rolling Stones of hip-hop,” Jay-Z said in a recent telephone interview.
The deal answers a question that had been circling through the rap world for months: Where would Jay-Z take his next corporate role? As part of the arrangement, Live Nation would finance the start-up of a venture that would be an umbrella for his outside projects, which are expected to include his own label, music publishing, and talent consulting and managing. Live Nation is expected to contribute $5 million a year in overhead for five years, with another $25 million available to finance Jay-Z’s acquisitions or investments, according to people in the music industry briefed on the agreement. The venture, to be called Roc Nation, will split profits with Live Nation.
The overall package for Jay-Z also includes an upfront payment of $25 million, a general advance of $25 million that includes fees for his current tour, and advance payment of $10 million an album for a minimum of three albums during the deal’s 10-year term, these people said. A series of other payments adding up to about $20 million is included in exchange for certain publishing, licensing and other rights. Jay-Z said Live Nation’s consolidated approach was in sync with the emerging potential “to reach the consumer in so many different ways right now.” He added: “Everyone’s trying to figure it out. I want to be on the front lines in that fight.”

Funny Read....

this was too funny not to post up....
This is an article entitled "Laughing Straight to the Bank" from the folks at Rawkus. You can check out the full article here.
Here's some excerpts, I especially chuckled about....
On Dame Dash:
For the failed entrepreneurs, there was also a sigh of relief. Not having to keep up with the likes of Diddy, Hov, Russell and Lyor has made living a little easier for them. Damon Dash has talked openly about slowing the pace in the next decade.
“When you enjoy that kind of come-up, there’s nothing left to do but go down. It’s more exciting. I love new challenges. I used to be a Cake-a-holic by my own admission. Now, I’m a Life-a-holic. I’m high on life, and I’ve seen enough to know the opportunities will always be there.” Dash says his plans for expansion include a hot dog stand in his former Harlem neighborhood as well as a stint on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice.
On Koch Records:
But the real winners in all this could arguably be Koch Records. Execs at Koch have turned into the bottom-feeders in a world full of broke rappers with high profiles. Koch has changed its motto to reflect the market saying “Where there’s bankruptcy, there’s money to be made” and airing nonstop commercial blocks targeting rappers without a home. Founder Michael Koch is proud of their acquisitions and the flexibility they allow. “Someone buys a sh*tty rap record every 2 minutes…why shouldn’t it be a Koch sh*tty rap record?” Telling words from a wise man. The rich get richer.

Channel 10 Once Again
It's been awhile since the last time I blogged it up, and I see that people still check up on the site. There really has not been much that stood out the past week or two to post on. A lot of pointless crap being typed on blogs these days. Here's some interesting things that went down....
Mr. Presley Steps Down
Shit has been rumored for over 6 months, it was bound to happen. I'm hearing Irv, Diddy, JD might get the job? I'm even reading that 50 could be next in line....
Santana Montana?
Nas tearing it down at the Hammerstein Ballroom
Capone N Noreaga - On Our Grind
From their new "second reunion" album, Reporting the War.
Honestly, how many of ya think I could have laced them with a better beat?
----------------------------------------
For my fans, a Throwaway Beats? Vol. 1 mixtape will be dropping in January. I'll put up a blog about it later on.
Till next year, stay keeping 'em plugged!

Forgot to Add....

Well I've pretty much slacked on this site during the month of December. Here's a brief rundown of what's went down in and out of this industry....
Pimp C passed away. R.I.P.
Spice 1 hospitalized after shooting. Death rumors are just rumors. No one knows the status yet.
Jay-Z ponders whether or not to leave Def Jam.
Papoose goes on video to deny reports he got cut in the face. Mixtape #20 dropping soon.
Wu Tang Clan Releases 8 Diagrams. If you still didn't buy, noose yourself ASAP.
50 gives out $$$ to kids in Southside Jamaica. That's good karma man...Props to Ice!
Video of the Year - AZ & Styles P - The Hardest
Lil Wayne on the Boondocks (SMH)
Rapper Noyd and Prodigy rock the J.A.M. Awards
And that's pretty much it. MP3 links to some new songs will be added shortly. Also new blog entries will be added this week. The next New Breed Artist article will be added later this week.

Moving Units

So Mr. Presley moved 425,000 copies in first week sales. Not bad considering he pretty much only put about 2 months into this project.

Charlie Rose Chalkin it Up with Hov
There's something about the black background, the coffee table and the mugs that sets this show apart from everyone else's broadcast. Charlie Rose is always on point for the most part. He gets props from me.
